The New Mastermind Behind Balenciaga

Before getting into Balenciaga's F/W 2013 collection, lets take a moment to evaluate Alexander Wang himself. I found this witty little graph on Racked.com that shows adjectives of Wang himself and his designs, this graph is supposedly, "scientifically", made by using information from sources such as Vogue and The New York Times. As I think about it, this really isn't that relevant, just a fun little thing to look at. Now, onto the collection, shall we?

Ahh, if you haven't been living under a rock, you should know that Wang is the new creative director of Balenciaga. Before I go any further, Wang was told in January to start this collection, giving him only one month to finish it! Here are the looks that stuck out to me the most from the collection. Wang tried to keep Balenciaga's roots intact but at the same time I noticed how just a little hint of Wang was apparent in all the designs. By that little hint I mean that unbelievable ability to pull of such simplistic designs that represent so much more. Oh, and blacks, whites and neutral colors of course. Some prevalent details were rounded hemlines, cocoon like silhouettes, and an overall futuristic yet classic feel.
Nonetheless, the collection was perfect. But come on, would you expect anything less from Wang?

My New Found Love for Zara

I am nothing less than obsessed with Zara's February lookbook to say the least. So, naturally, I am equally obsessed with everything new on the site, despite that half the items aren't available yet. Patchwork jeans, a mock for the Jil Sander lunch bag, boxy silhouettes, leather, leather, and more leather, all for an affordable price? Yes, yes, and yes.

Zara was always, in my opinion, geared more towards a sophisticated, lady like style. Occasionally I'd find one or two things I like. But this season my mind has completely changed. First off, I've been dying for a pair of amazing patchwork jeans, not from Free People, and finally I found them at Zara for $89, same thing goes for a great pair of boyfriend jeans, found at Zara for only $59. Besides that, the infamous Jil Sander paper bag was transformed into a leather version (much more convenient I think) for $35! The look that Zara went for this season is right up my alley and thankfully, was executed successfully.

The New King of Street Style Blogs

I think the Kenzo sweatshirt can be crowned the king of attracting street style photographers and the most worn item by fashion bloggers, that goes without explanation. But today I discovered the Kenzo x New Era cap, retailing for $60, pretty good price in my opinion. If only I could find this hat somewhere that is in stock. I've been lusting over the fad of baseball caps but I've yet to find one that makes me want to buy it. Well, this hat definitely satisfies that need for me. Move over Kenzo sweatshirt because the baseball cap might just take the throne.

The Best of London Fashion Week

Here are my top favorites from LFW: looks from Ashish, Simone Rocha, and Burberry. Starting with Ashish, a designer that was completely new to me about a month ago, everything about the looks from this collection is completely my style. Ashish was inspired by construction workers vests and uniforms, take note of the black with pops of neon in the collection. The collection combined street style (literally)  with a masculine and grunge vibe. Next up, Simone Rocha was also a big surprise for me with her contrasting looks of structured, granny suits one second and patent leather ensembles the next. Overall, I love it though, I can't complain. Last is Burberry which is not always my cup of tea but it was this year...I was really drawn to the mix of prints and mix of fabrics which added a ton of variety to the show.

Throwback

Wearing: Topshop pants / Forever 21 vest and top / Dr. Martens / Ray Bans / Necklace from TheCobraShop

Tattoo chokers? Ring a bell? I think so. I've been on a hunt for these for a while and finally I came to find a 24 pack (all different colors!). You honestly cannot get more 90's than these things. On top of those, I'm also obsessed with these pants from Topshop, I just can't get enough of "sweatpant chic" pants. I always feel the need to wear them and pair everything in my closet with them.

NYFW: fav looks from fav collections

I decided to show my favorite looks from some of my favorite collections from F/W 2013 NYFW: 3.1 Philip Lim, Alexander Wang, BCBG Max Azria, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs and Rag and Bone. Clearly, there's a pattern in what collections I'm attracted to. Think 90's (yet again), dark colors (with the exception of white) (yet again), and unflattering silhouettes. I'm kinda in love with all these trends now, I just can't wait for some fast fashion retailers to jump on the band wagon with these trends as well. Oh, and I have to admit, I'm really digging these full face masks/headwraps/hat things from Alexander Wang because I don't know if I can take any more of this brutally cold weather....and they look like they'll help a lot. Although I think fun colors, prints and girly silhouettes are lovely, I really just have such a liking for vampy colors and things that look two sizes too big for fall. But, who knows, maybe my mind will change when next fall comes around.

Marc Jacobs Coke Cans? I think so?

Is it sad that I got extremely excited when I found out about these today? Apparently, they're only going to be sold in Europe at first. Hopefully they'll make their way over to the states soon enough. These a m a z i n g  cans feature 3 decades, the 80s, 90s and the 00s. Ugh, I can't get over them. Can this guy do anything else? Speaking of Marc, a NYFW runway post is soon to come!

NYFW / The girl with the pink hat

Wearing: Topshop treggings / Forever 21 blazer / Topshop hat / Nasty Gal bag

So, I can finally say I've been to MBFW, and it was as amazing as I anticipated.... Everything about it, the spirit, photographers rushing after you as you're walking, the clothes, the people, I could go on and on. Anyways, I was kinda picky about my outfit for this day, not only did I care about it since its NYFW but I also wanna catch the eyes of people say, like, Tommy Ton? Due to this I chose my neon beanie from Topshop, mixed prints on prints (on prints!), and without question, my Jeff Campbell Everlys. On top of all this I got to go to a few shows I didn't think I was going to :) Pretty successful day.
