Components of the School Girl Look

Lately my go-to outfit has consisted of the American Apparel circle skirt, or any of their skirts, thigh highs/knee highs, and an oversized sweater, and shoes vary. When I wear these things together I automatically think "school uniform", I'm actually starting to take a liking to school uniforms because of this. But, I'm stuck in a public school. *sigh*
Now, plaid basically screams school girl so a plaid skirt might be overboard for you, so just try a solid colored skirt. As for shoes I chose these metal toe capped boots because you don't want a shoe that literally makes you look like you just came home from school. Both these skirts are from American Apparel and the thigh highs on the top, the bottom ones are from Urban.
Oh, by the way, some people have asked me to do a bun tutorial so I will be doing a tutorial for how to do a top-knot bun soon. You'll be surprised at how easy it is!

Black Friday Haul (not really)

So I'm calling this a black friday haul only because I bought half of this stuff black friday weekend but I only saved a total of $15 probably... A few of these things I bought 1-2 weeks ago at the latest. I just felt it was appropriate to title it that.

Remember how I was debating on what docs I should get.... well I chose the 1461's in black! Oh my god I was in the Dr. Marten store for an hour and a half deciding. I picked these up first and didn't like the way they looked on but after trying on 10 other pairs I went back with my first choice. Nevertheless I am satisfied with them now.

H&M:

 Nordstrom:

Jenna and Ruby (jacket) (google it if you've never heard of it, they have multiple boutiques between CT, NJ and NY) and Nirvana (hat):

Urban Outfitters:
I am very pleased with this jacket, every year I am on the hunt for the perfect winter jacket and I found this baby, the leather detailing is what makes it in my opinion. Lets just hope it keeps me warm!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wearing: Nordstrom fur vest&tights / American Apparel skirt / Forever 21 blouse / H&M bowler hat

Kind of a late post but lets pretend today is Thanksgiving! So me and my family just went to the city for the day, explaining my outfit and these photos I took. I'm really loving this hat :) I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving!

The Chelsea Boot

Chelsea boots

The chelsea boot, it is so classic yet each designer manages to put his/her own spin on it. The chelsea boot originated in the Victorian era and is basically a short, tight ankle boot, very simple. The "signature" part of this boot is its elastic on the side as opposed to the overused zipper. These are just a few of my favorites, I'm definitely planning on getting a pair!

Karl Who?

Wearing: DIY tee shirt, Forever 21 sweater, Delias leggings

I finally got around to wearing this shirt! I really do love it, I'm so glad I made it myself as opposed to buying it. Although I was pissed off once I made it myself because after I made it I checked online once more to see if I could find the shirt for sale... and guess what.... I did... but $60 compared to my version is a big difference. And mine came out pretty good if I say so myself. I just wished it was centered more.

Can we take the same road two days in the same clothes?

Wearing: Forever 21 turtleneck / Urban Outfitters vest / Necessary Clothing jeans / American Apparel headband / Juicy Couture watch

I don't know if I said this before but turtlenecks are another one of my obsessions, they just go along with my love for American Apparel because that's all you see when you go on their website. I also love these jeans from Necessary, I have a pair in acid wash too. Last year I bought high waisted jeans from Cheap Monday, which were a little too expensive now that I look back since I don't even wear them that much because I don't like the way they fit.

Can't Decide which Docs!

Okay so I am in desperate need of a new pair of Docs because I wear my red ones all the time and I know I will get good use out of a new pair, my top three are these. I think I've narrowed it down to the patent 1460's on the top and the black 1461's on the bottom left. I will probably end up getting both though because I just can't decide! I'll be sure to show you guys my decision (when I make it!).

90's Day

Wearing: UO plaid flannel / vintage AC/DC tee / American Apparel leggings / Jeffrey Campbell sneakers / Etsy hair scrunchie

So yesterday for class I dressed up as if I lived in the 90's because for my fashion merchandising class we had to choose a decade and write a report and do a presentation on it. I chose the 1990's, obviously.  Basically I channeled 90's grunge in my outfit: velvet, plaid, scrunchies, platforms.

DIY Necklace Organizer

Over the hurricane at least I did one thing productive... before I transformed my cork board into this^^... it was an inspiration board filled with pictures I ripped out from magazines. Although I loved it I felt like it was time for something new. I've seen some things similar before but I'm not sure if they're exact, I didn't refer to anything for this little DIY.
What you'll need:
push pins (preferably all one color) (clear is great or any color you want)
two colors of ribbon
some leftover fabric
some of "your favorite things" (i'll explain)
and your necklaces!

The first step is to lay out the ribbon, my cork board is an odd shape since it's on a long rotating...thing... but a normal shaped one should require longer strips but less of them. Your goal is to make the two colored ribbons cross over each other to create X's. Just follow my pictures. All I did to secure them was put pushpins on the ends.

The second step is to take any fabric you have and place them in spots where you know you'll place a necklace over it. Since you don't just want a random piece of fabric laying there. The fabric adds a different feel to the board. I just did one piece in the middle.

Then just think about where you want your necklaces, organize them accordingly and place the pushpins where you want them. A tip is that the heavier the necklace the more pushpins you'll need for a necklace, a necklace may stay with as many as 3 or 4 push pins.

Lastly collect some things that you'd maybe hang up on a refrigerator? I keep my tags for items that I love like my Casio watch, Cambridge satchel, Docs so I put those on there. I also added a MetroCard. Feel free to put pictures, souvenirs, anything on.

Nylon Dreams

Wearing: H&M cardigan, Forever 21 polka dot shirt, American Apparel leggings, Dr. Martens

If only today wasn't the aftermath of a snow storm, and the snow actually stuck, then an outfit post outside would be pretty nice. However, the snow is slowly fading away so the scenery would be dirty snow in the background at the moment. Long story short, shooting outside wasn't going to be a good idea today. This outfit is so casual yet so "lovely", I love it. But it is definitely because of my new nylon leggings from American Apparel, as seen in my last post. They just fit amazing and feel amazing and just are amazing.. Also one of my favorites for this month is this speckled sweater from H&M, it's oversized but not too long and it actually keeps me warm!
