This list is heavily influenced by my upcoming trip to California which will entail non-stop exploring of all that The Golden State has to offer. I anticipate that hurting feet from constant walking, the sun with 0% humidity and, overall, a lot of traveling will sum up my trip. Because of this it is a perfect time to finally buy the New Balance Classics I have been eyeing for the longest time and invest in a new purse (cough cough Philip Lim). Other things such as Warby Parker sunglasses will be great for when my contacts dry up or I just feel too lazy to put them in, a Nixon watch because my Casio watches are getting old, and the perfect lip color to touch up when I can't get back to my hotel room.

Lust List: June
Over the past few weeks my life has been swallowed up by ACTs, final exams, and generally wrapping up my junior year of high school. As of today, I can thankfully say that I am done with junior year which means more time for blogging. For now, here is my "lust list" for the month of June. I love gathering items I am desiring each month and showcasing them in a cohesive way. My obsession with lingerie as casual wear has not died down, I am still obsessed to say the least and am dying for a lace slip and (multiple) Free People bralettes. A company that I recently discovered was Quay Eyewear, after searching through their website I fell in love with their sunglasses which are really affordable. We all knew pearls were going to come back soon after Karl sent his Chanel Spring 2013 collection down the runway and Zara has perfectly reinvented oversized pearls into jewelry. Oh, and yes, I would like another pair of Birks, preferably in black this time...

Meet MATERIAL
After months of hard work I am thrilled to introduce my final project from my Spring 2014 class at FIT, magazine design. I aspire to work at a magazine company one day and this class was the perfect opportunity to exercise my creativity and show all I'd wish to contribute to a company such as Teen Vogue or Nylon (just to name a few). I titled my magazine "Material" leaving the title open to interpretation and featured some of my favorite people in it such as Leandra Medine, my favorite YouTube stars and Sophia Amoruso to truly reflect what my own magazine would be like. All of the articles are written by me with the exception of the interviews. I loved everything that went into making a magazine including the layout of the spreads, writing the articles and choosing the products and people to feature. Enjoy and feedback is appreciated!

Get the 30's look: Curley's Wife
The thing about wearing dresses from previous decades such as the flapper dress, shift dress, knee-legnth dress, etc. is that they are timeless. No matter what the "in" silhouette is at fast fashion retailers one can always resort to the classic aesthetic of decade-associated dresses. After seeing the play Of Mice and Men this weekend starring one of the ubiquitous Franco brothers, James, and Gossip Girl star, Leighton Meester I couldn't help but take notice of Leighton, or should I say Curley's wife's, dresses. What I found most astonishing was the fact that the character, in the book and play, is perceived as a promiscuous woman whilst wearing an ankle-length dress. If only those migrant workers saw what women wear today... Nonetheless I genuinely adored Leighton's character's choice of dress and thought about how women of today would put their own spin on the 30's silhouette. A pinstriped, collared, and buckled dress about a foot shorter than the original paired would oxford heels would be the modern version of Curley's wife's look.

Wearable Art
When I heard Nina Garcia say that "fashion is not art" on Project Runway I rewound the show a few seconds back (thank god for DVR) just to make sure that I heard right. With that, is fashion art? My stance on the question is that fashion is absolutely art, no doubt about it. The Merriam-Webster definition of art is "something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings". This definition is certainly applicable to clothing, and even more then clothing, fashion. Lets see, clothing is made with imagination and skill while fashion expresses important ideas or feelings. With Spring Couture 210 just wrapping up I figured it would be the perfect time to address this question. Between the picture of Adam and Eve on a Valentino gown (above) and Maison Martin Margiela using "unconventional" materials to create what should be haute couture, I think the answer is clear in this case. For Chanel on the other hand there may be some controversy, many people would not consider fanny-packs and knee-pads art.
What do you think, is fashion a form of wearable art?

Holiday Wish-list
Here it is, the holiday wish-list. Personally I see the holiday wish-list as somewhat of a mandatory post/video for bloggers and YouTuber's alike. Wish-list's give a glimpse of what a person is lusting over if, say, money was unlimited. However, I have to say that my wish-list this year is quite realistic.
1. I'm always on the hunt for a new purse. Though a Wang or Saint Laurent is a bit unrealistic right now, I still managed to find some great bags. On the left is a generously roomy shoulder bag with a folder over flap from Asos, ideal for when the inner Mary Poppins comes out in me and I feel the need to stuff my life in a bag. On the right is a small satchel from Zara in my favorite color at the moment, navy, great for when I don't feel like carrying something gigantic.
2. Marc Jacobs Honey perfume, just when my Dot perfume becomes old news for me there is always another one waiting for me to buy it.
3. Lets just say I don't have the best luck when it comes to flat irons. I've had flat irons in silver, blue, heck, even bedazzled but, I haven't had one that I have been impressed with; and that's all that matters, right?
4. Probably at the top of my list is a new lens, I'm hoping for the Nikkor 50 mm 1.8 g (the perfect lens for outfit photos)! Get ready for some amazing photos!
5. When Alexa Chung and Leandra Medine, aka my favorite people on the planet, both write books it is pretty much necessary for them to be in my possession.
6. I have heard great things about Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and this mini lip tar set is the perfect way to try the brand out.
7. I am a girl who can never have too many watches. A color still missing from my watch collection is black, this one from Casio has a sporty feel but it still has that cool retro vibe all of Casio's watches have.
8. A set studio lights along with a setup would be wonderful for future videos and photos!
