Longlines and Knits

Wearing: American Apparel Riding pants / Brandy Melville knit bralette / Forever 21 vest / Topshop sandals / Vintage Dooney and Bourke

Well, today officially marks the last day of summer for me hence my forced smiles in these shots. From these shots alone it seems as if I'm transitioning well into fall by the fact that I already broke out my riding pants, I'm sure I will be getting sufficient use out of these all fall/winter long. Yesterday I just hopped on over to Soho to return a pair of boots quickly and wanted a simple outfit, I love the long silhouette of this vest over this knit from Brandy. It took me a while to figure out how to wear this knit without inconspicuously flashing the whole world but I just winded wearing a simple black cropped bandeau underneath and it looked great (a little safety-pinning action helped also!).

Dot Marc Jacobs Perfume Display

A tad bit delayed to me but brand spanking new to you guys! I made this display for my In-Store Merchandising class last Spring, the assignment was to choose a perfume and create a display based off of it. Evidently I chose Dot by Marc Jacobs and decided to create basically a "giant" sized and modified version of the bottle on a dress form. If you're wondering, which you probably are, yes, the top of the dress form has a ball from the dollar store attached to it in which I stuck black vinyl dots all over it. The "wings" as I refer to them as are simply a hard-type of paper (hand cut) that I covered in black vinyl and the "Marc Jacobs" logo which my professor and I tried our best to duplicate and the other vinyl dots were all hand put on and eyeballed for straightness by myself. This is probably one of my favorite projects I've ever completed most likely because I did not think the execution would turn out the way it did.

D'ya Say D'Orsay?

I may or may not be making an utter fool out of myself by making this post, but we'll see. The reason I say that is because this "new" style of ballet flat, called the "D'Orsay" flat is news to my ears. While shopping online on Urban Outfitters I came across a few flats with this silhouette and I adopted a liking to all of them, then I went on to Nordstrom.com and proceeded to find many flats of the same style. As far as I can tell this silhouette is fairly new but to others maybe not. Personally, I'm extremely fond of this style, after a couple of years of the classic ballet flat feeling somewhat ostracized I think it was time for a new style to be up and coming. I think they're a perfect mix between the pointy-toed loafer that blew up this summer and like I mentioned, the ballet flat. Here are some of my favorites.

A Pocketful of Sunflowers

Wearing: Forever 21 top, Ruby&Jenna shorts, Topshop sandals, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Casio watch, Etsy necklace

Sunflowers on sunflowers, heck, even on my crotch! Well, if you want to be precise than the flowers on my shorts aren't actual sunflowers, I'd rather not embarrass myself like I did before editing this post as I referred to the yellow flowers in the background as daisies. Consequently, I'm not sure of the actual name for the flowers on my shorts, lets just say I don't consider myself a flower aficionado, although I think I'd take quite the pleasure in learning a thing or two about flowers. Besides that, I feel that these shorts oddly resemble a diaper... they're a bit bulky in the material and the the trim goes up in a diagonal way, characteristics of a diaper if you ask me. So, do I hate wearing them? No, the opposite actually, I take pride in my diaper shorts
