The Holey Grail

Wearing: Necessary Clothing top / Nordstrom midi skirt / H&M shoes / Aldo sunglasses

Now here is an example of the sports luxe concept I've been raving about put into action. In my opinion the mesh and H&M sneakers I've been talking about are on point. This season I would wear something mesh every day if I could, whether it'd be knit, silk, whatever! Something else I'd also wear everyday is this midi skirt that I finally caved into buying, although I wouldn't consider it a "cave" because it's most definitely a piece that I could wear very often and a hundred different ways. I might even do a styling post around it. Personally I think it makes an outfit look fashion forward in an instant because of its silhouette and length, the length is not something you would find whilst roaming Forever 21's site every two seconds (not denouncing Forever 21 by the way).

Takin' It Back

Wearing: vintage Cricket Lane blazer / Topshop skirt / H&M rings / H&M top

There are some elements to this outfit that lead my mind to the term "taking it back", such as these huge plastic rings that scream 90's, and are just great by the way, I was immediately drawn to them when I saw them at H&M for some reason. This blazer was also an amazing find at Buffalo, on the hanger it looked like an oversized old lady's jacket but I've been on the lookout for a plaid blazer so when I saw this one I ripped it off the rack knowing that when styled it would look great. Nonetheless, it's the perfect blazer for spring when I want to "vintage-fy" an outfit for lack of better words. I also can't go without mentioning this denim, acid wash body con skirt from Topshop, I am not a huge fan of body cons by any means, this was my first purchase of one but c'mon it's denim. A denim body con is the epitome of "taking it back". Consequently, I knew it was for me.

Lusting over Vagabonds

Before I get started I wanted to quickly point out how many shoes I've noticed on this blog. While scrolling through I just found shoes after shoes after shoes. I know my shoe obsession has developed quite a bit, it grows every day I think, but, after this post, I going to try to steer away from shoes. Anyway, that's beside the point. Today I wanted to quickly mention a new brand of shoes I discovered called Vagabond. I first saw these at Urban Outfitters and they quickly made their way over to Solestruck not to long after. These shoes are my style in a nutshell. They are fashion forward, they have a futuristic vibe to them, they posses either a chunky heel or flatform heel (both in which I have a strong fondness of) and the best part, most of their shoes come in white. And at this moment, me and white shoes just click (if you haven't noticed). One thing is for sure though, they are most definitely not everyone's style. But, hey, who cares? If I could get my hands on every single style in this collection I would.

Components of the Sports Luxe Look (in chronological order)

By far my favorite trend for this upcoming spring season is the sports luxe look, the perfect mix between casual and chic. Comfort is also a big plus too. But, sometimes the latest trends don't come easy to many. Today I going to show you how I would classify this trend and obviously how to wear it!
The first step is getting the right pair of sneakers. Yes, sneakers. One of the two critical pieces to this ensemble. Go with what you have. But, if you have the opportunity to buy a pair, I think high tops in neutral colors work the best. The ones below are: Adidas, Supra, Jeffrey Campbell and H&M. (It won't be to long before I own the H&M ones for $34!) This is the easiest step because you just work your way up from here.

Second step: bottoms. Decide what you feel comfortable in. My personal favorite for this look is leather shorts, ugh, just seeing them make me want to rip them off of my screen. If you like the whole, skirt and sneaker look (Hello, Kristen Stewart!) them go for it. If that's not for you and you want to try something a little more risky then go for runner inspired shorts like the ones below, you can get these at American Apparel or Topshop. Just make sure to balance it out on top to make it look like you're not going for an actual run.

Third step: tops. This is where your bottoms and sneakers come into play. The chicness of your bottoms or the casualness of your bottoms should lead you into the direction of what shirt to pair with your outfit. For the skirt, go with a more graphic top to amp up the casualness. For the running shorts, go with a polished button up or any shirt that you think gives the outfit a bit of girly-ness and chicness. For the leather shorts anything really goes, my best bet for those however would be a cool crop top, something with a high neck or cool detailing. Just experiment and see what works. Only thing to keep in mind is balance the look from being too tomboy or too feminine.

Last step (my favorite): The icing to the cake in my opinion, choosing the right baseball cap. You know my affinity for baseball caps already so I don't need to explain but for this look in particular a baseball cap really just pulls the whole outfit together. This should be your last step because the cap you choose should be based entirely on your outfit. It's pretty simple, look in the mirror, if you feel more on the "tomboy" side, choose one of the printed caps below on the left (all from Charlotte Russe) to add a touch of femininity. If you feel more on the girly side choose a more masculine (but still cool) cap like a Boy London, Supreme, or leather one. All of this is done solely to create that perfect balance your aiming for in your look.

Some Pictures for your Pleasure

All of these pictures were taken by me, if you could not tell. Photography isn't my forte but I enjoy it and pictures to me (as corny as it sounds) are "worth a thousand words". Basically, I just love how you can look back at pictures any time of the day for the rest of your life and have any memories come rushing back to you.
