The Duchess of Cambridge (purse edition)

I thought I would dedicate a post entirely to my favorite bag ever, my Cambridge Satchel in fluro green. This baby is "The Duchess of Cambridge" of the world of satchels in my eyes. I first discovered this bag quite a while ago and never really wanted to buy it because I didn't think I would wear it much. However, on day my mind changed and I don't regret it. Although this color seems ify it really does go with everything because I am one to not be afraid of color blocking anything and everything.

September Nail Color: Malaga Wine

I finally parted my ways with oranges! This month I opted for a dark, fall color, I had my mind set before I was in the salon. I like this color, it's just what I wanted, nothing too amazing though.

How to: wear brocade casually

Brocade was seen all over the F/W 2012 runways, from Rebecca to  Proenza. When done right, brocade can come off as a chic, classy nighttime look. However, it is hard to pull off this fabric for a daytime, casual look. There are multiple types of brocade such as chinese brocade, damask, and paisley. Also, brocade is heavily used in home decor. So many people might feel intimidated by this. Take a look.

This is brocade on the runway, for a nighttime look it's easy to pull off because most of the time the item is a single dress or a matchy-match suit.

Now here to two different ways to incorporate brocade to work or school:

Trend-spotting: Animal prints taken to a whole other level

Animal prints such as leopard, zebra, cow, giraffe... whatever... have always be so popular. These prints could be mixed into any girls' wardrobe despite her kind of style. Personally, I don't own one thing that is animal print. So clearly it's not my favorite trend out there. It has been slowly dying within the last few months, primarily because it is summer though. However, colored leopard on jeans seemed to be very apparent last fall and even this fall. With this trend steadily fading we must have to have something to replace it? Right? Before we take a look at that lets pay a tribute to the "real" animal print....

Now, this is the so-called "new" animal print, since literally it is an animal on the shirt! When I tell you that you can find these shirts anywhere, you really could.... I was in a pet store the other day and saw a whole rack full of these shirts, mostly similar to the one below from ModCloth. Of course, I don't think these pet stores know that they're shirts are a major trend right now!

Fall Go-To Outfit

Crop tops an high waisted shorts in the summer is to jeans
and oversized cardigans in the fall time
These are the words that many teenage girls live by during these seasons. These combinations are simple, easy, and just look great! I have nothing against these looks but I do think at times they could be  a little too mainstream.
I actually just bought three skirts from American Apparel today, my first purchase(s) from AA in my whole life! I've been eyeing the three skirts for a while now and had my mind set on buying them today. I realize that skirts + fall time aren't the best combo and skirts work much better in the summer/spring. But I thought of some really cute ways to wear these during the fall time, with not leaving the whole "mainstream" look out completely.
Although the skirts were sort of pricey, at $45 a piece, I think they're worth it, bearing in mind that the temperature will drop a few degrees in a couple of weeks!

Check out these looks!

Big, comfy sweaters just give a "homey" like feel while you're in a freezing classroom and the knee high socks keep your legs warm. The ankle boots are one of my favorite fall trends that I couldn't leave out.

Canadian Tux Lux

Wearing: Abercrombie and Fitch chambray button up / Forever 21 shorts / Jeffrey Campbell sneakers

Denim on denim is a trend that hasn't faded away too fast yet, let alone denim in itself. Take the classic blue jean for example, whenever I think of how "staple" denim jeans are this quote always comes to my mind by YSL: I wish I had invented blue jeans. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my clothes.

Myrtle Beach'in

Wearing: 6th picture down: Necessary Clothing top, J.Crew vest, Buffalo Exchange shorts, Urban Outfitter flatforms / 3rd picture from bottom: DIY vest from Buffalo Exchange, Urban Outfitter shorts, Brandy Melville tee shirt

Clearly I haven't been updating as much as usual, that's because I've been away, in Myrtle Beach for the past week. Obviously I've only uploaded one outfit post, when I intended to upload a lot more.... anyway here are some pictures from my trip. By the way, the bottom picture is just a henna! I'm obsessed with it, the cross is so simple yet I love it so much!

Back to School: Outfit Ideas

Time for another back to school post! This one is probably one of the most requested yet ordinary posts about back to school time because often girls are stuck when the time comes around to choose a first day outfit. These outfits are purely for inspiration so I didn't list the stores that everything is from. Feel free to let these inspire you for your first day or the whole first week!

We all know there are countless different types of style such as grunge, girly, boho, classic, punk and so on. But today I broke up these outfit ideas into the main categories that I tend to see: the girl that is willing to take on trends and go all out & the girl who likes to stay classic and go for the basics and what she is used to.

Here is some outfit ideas for the so-called "casual girl", the one who likes to be trendy in a subtle way:

Here are outfit ideas for the more edgy, trendy girl:

A Bevy of Boho

Wearing: Necessary Clothing bralet, Forever 21 cardigan, Urban Outfitter vintage Levi shorts, Brandy Melville headwrap, Aldo shoes

There is definitely a lot of roses and flowers in this outfit between the head wrap and the cardigan. I really have been loving taking an aspect in an outfit and kind of "blowing it up" and incorporating a lot of that specific detail, which in this case is the flowers/roses. Also, this outfit is a little out of norm for me, although I love the whole boho style I tend to stay away from it, only because I think it's a little too overrated. However, last night I felt like going against my grain I guess you can say.

Jeffrey Campbell Homg Stud Sneakers

Remember the post last week ago about me obsessing over JC shoes? Well, after much thought I decided that the Homg Studded sneakers were my favorite (in rose gold), considering the price also. Originally, they were $175, but while browsing on Need Supply Co. I unintentionally came about these sneakers, realizing they were already on sale and 40% off that sale price! I couldn't believe it because these shoes are fairly new. I haven't actually worn them yet because I'll be saving them for fall but I just walked around the house a bit in them and they looked really cute on. The only complaint I have is that they feel like I have blocks on my feet or something but I'll get used to that.

So what do you think of these?

Back to School Backpack/Tote and Essentials

It is that unfortunate time of year again that sadly we all have to face, back to school time. Although some of you might of even started, as long as weeks ago, others may still have a month or so to go. I'm going to be doing a mini "back to school" series with posts such as this one with essentials, outfits, makeup, and hauls for back to school that will be posted periodically. This post will be considered the first and is just some school bag ideas and things that I know I always go out to buy before school starts to throw in my bag that are always good to have handy.

Before I get into what to put in your bags for school I just wanted to go over some really great bags that I think you should consider. I showed two types of bags here, backpacks and totes. Personally I think backpacks are just adorable and look so cute on, also since they have become so popular this year they have been seen everywhere in soo many different patterns, styles, etc. Also, they are great for your back. Well, not great but a whole lot better than a tote bag. The only complaint I have with a backpack is that it's a pain to put on after  class, it's not that much work but in my case I love to just sling a tote on on my shoulder. The other option is the tote bag which is just obvious, they are roomy and simple.
Other than school supplies I always liked to carry things in my tote bag at school such as the above. You could put these things in your locker but in my situation I rarely go to my locker and these items are great to have right next to you. Gum is a must, hand sanitizer and lotion is always great, these TwistBands are my new favorite thing, and I don't know about you but I always need a bandaid because I wear the most terrible shoes so why not get these cool bandaids from Urban Outfitters? Lastly, we have the Shemergency Kit, which is basically a small kit with just about everything you need; from double sided tape, hair spray, a mirror to deodorant, floss and a pain reliever.
School supplies could go untalked about but I just had to mention a couple of these items. The top part is all supplies from Urban Outfitters (can't you tell??), having fun supplies at school makes me happy, I don't know about you guys though. These scented highlighters makes you, as well as others in a good mood and the fun pencil cases are a great accessory for your desk. On the bottom we have two items from Target which look basic but for some reason I am in love. To the left we have colored pens, they are so fun to write with and make your notes look gorgeous. To the right we have these things called Notebinders which I just discovered. They are the perfect mix between binders and notebooks and don't interfere with us lefty's writing because of their rubber rings. Just pop in your college ruled paper as you go, no bulky binders necessary.

DIY: skull cut-out tee

SKULL CUT-OUT TEE

The skull cut-out tee became instantly popular this season within weeks, there is now so many different versions of this cut-out; sweatshirts, tanks, tees, leopard print, neon, etc. I thought this was a really cute idea when I first saw it but I didn't know if I would wear one much if I bought one, so I made one myself! It was surprisingly one of the easiest DIYs I've done yet. Ironically the most time consuming though. The best part is you don't need to purchase anything for this DIY, the only thing you might need is a plain tee shirt of your choice if you don't have one already. In my case I just used an old black tee shirt.
What else you will need:
Scissors
a white gel pen/chalk pen/pencil (for a black shirt)
OR
a black pen for any other color
OR
paper and tape (just simply cut out the shape of the skull on paper and tape it on the shirt, then cut along the edge of the paper!)

Also make sure you have a reference!

Just start tracing out the skull design!

Once your done start cutting! Be sure to put a box or cardboard between the shirt though just so you don't cut the other side by accident.

Final turnout!

Since the shirt I used was really big and I didn't try it on before I cut it (bad idea on my part) I cut the front so it is a little shorter then the back so its easy to tuck into shirts!

Happy DIYing!
