Before getting into Balenciaga's F/W 2013 collection, lets take a moment to evaluate Alexander Wang himself. I found this witty little graph on Racked.com that shows adjectives of Wang himself and his designs, this graph is supposedly, "scientifically", made by using information from sources such as Vogue and The New York Times. As I think about it, this really isn't that relevant, just a fun little thing to look at. Now, onto the collection, shall we?
Ahh, if you haven't been living under a rock, you should know that Wang is the new creative director of Balenciaga. Before I go any further, Wang was told in January to start this collection, giving him only one month to finish it! Here are the looks that stuck out to me the most from the collection. Wang tried to keep Balenciaga's roots intact but at the same time I noticed how just a little hint of Wang was apparent in all the designs. By that little hint I mean that unbelievable ability to pull of such simplistic designs that represent so much more. Oh, and blacks, whites and neutral colors of course. Some prevalent details were rounded hemlines, cocoon like silhouettes, and an overall futuristic yet classic feel.
Nonetheless, the collection was perfect. But come on, would you expect anything less from Wang?
